BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES - GUIDELINES

The BDO has agreed to collate information, and produce BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES, one for Men, and one for Women, who must be current registered BDO Playing Members.

The Grand Prix Tables will be based on the attainment of darts players participating in BDO Member County ‘OPEN’ darts events and other major BDO Members-Only events.

1.00 QUALIFYING CONDITIONS

1.01 The ‘OPEN’ darts events shall be promoted and organised by a BDO Member County Darts Organisation, or an Area Darts Association, Full, or Associate.

1.02 The title of the ‘OPEN’ event must include the name of the BDO Member County, to avoid confusion with other events possibly supported by the same Sponsor.

1.03 There shall be no restriction on players wishing to enter an ‘OPEN’ event. Subject to the availability, size and safe use of the playing venue.

1.04 Entry Forms/Posters shall be distributed as widely as possible, this is best achieved by direct mail shots to the entrants from previous events and the use of appropriate websites and other electronic communications.

1.05 The ‘OPEN’ events shall be given as much publicity as possible, with advertising in recognised darts media; EG: Appropriate national and county websites, Darts World, and the local press.

1.06 To avoid confusion the words “BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX POINTS APPLIED FOR“ must be included on all literature associated with the ‘OPEN’ event; - ‘proof’ copies of forms/posters to be submitted for approval before printing.

1.07 A BDO Member County shall be eligible to apply for more than ONE ‘OPEN’ event, Men’s and/or Women’s event in each Playing Season.

1.08 A BDO Member County must have run an event on at least ONE occasion, in the previous Season, with written proof of the tournament’s viability, the number of entries, and the record of the payment of prize monies.

1.09 An ‘OPEN’ event must be staged on a date that has been agreed with the BDO Fixture Secretary.

See APPENDIX 1 Page I 8.

1.10 A reasonable attempt must be made to avoid ‘local’ clashes with other BDO Member County ‘OPEN’ events , a distinct geographical North/ South, or East/ West difference could be acceptable, and in those circumstances where a clash is still inevitable, even on a geographical basis, then consideration should be given to reversing Men’s and Women’s events on that respective weekend.

1.11 An ‘OPEN’ event which is staged on a date that clashes with a scheduled BDO darts event, in which more than ‘32’ players were involved in any One day, will be liable to be declared ineligible for inclusion into the BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES.

2.00 PLAYING FORMAT

2.01 An ‘OPEN’ event being promoted for the purpose of qualifying for the BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES must be a ‘SINGLES’ darts event.

2.02 The Playing Format shall be based on a multiple number of legs of 501-up, with a straight start, and a double, or Bull to finish.

2.03 An ‘OPEN’ event must be played under the BDO PLAYING RULES.

BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES - GUIDELINES

3.00 POINTS ALLOCATION

3.01 When a BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLE comprises of eight , or more events, then an individual player’s performance shall be determined by taking the aggregate points total from the ‘best’ points attained in 75% of the events of the Table in question.

IE: The same principle as adopted in the BDO Invitation Tables System.

3.02 Points shall NOT be awarded for an ‘OPEN’ event UNLESS the relevant information, verifying the placings of the first eight/sixteen players, plus the correct number of entries received, is forwarded, on the official Returns Form, within ‘7’ days of the event, to the compiler of the BDO BRITISH SENIOR GRAND PRIX TABLES.

3.03 Points will be allocated to each player’s placing in a recognised event as indicated in the table below;

APPENDIX 1 - SANCTION OF FIXTURES AND DARTS EVENT TITLES FIXTURE DATES

Certain Member County Darts Organisations/ Associations stage Special darts events ; Opens ; and other similar events, in which the Organisers, and Sponsors, would like as many players as possible to participate.

In order to assist in this objective, Organisers are advised to contact the BDO Fixture Secretary and inform him of the proposed dates under consideration.

At the time of writing the BDO Fixture Secretary is : - Sam Hawkins Esq., 4 Wellington Avenue, Blackfen, Sidcup, Kent, DA15. 9HG. Tel/Fax: 0208-303-6319.

This procedure will determine any darts events already laid down in the BDO Darts Calendar, and by contra-adjustment, either party could afford greater participation of players by avoiding a clash of dates, which must be in the best interests of all parties involved.

A copy of the current BDO Darts Calendar is issued in the BDO Darts Diary for your immediate reference for all "major" darts events.

SANCTION OF A DARTS EVENT TITLE

Any Member County Darts Organisation, or Association, can obtain sanction for the title of a darts event from the Board of Directors, provided that the request is made through the Member County Secretary on County headed notepaper.

If the sanction is granted, then the Organisers are authorised to state within the promotional literature for the event, any, or all, of the following terms ;

(a) ‘sanctioned by the BDO’
(b) ‘BDO Playing Rules apply’
(c) ‘Under the jurisdiction of the BDO’
(d) In some special cases the Board of Directors may request that the term, ‘on behalf of the BDO’ be used as well.

Again if the sanction is granted, the Organisers are authorised to use the BDO logo on the following items of promotional literature for an event.

(a) Letter headings associated with the darts event.
(b) Entry Forms.
(c) Score Sheets/ Pads .
(d) Posters advertising the darts event.
(e) Programmes being sold at the darts event.
(f) Admission tickets for the Play-offs, or Grand Finals of the darts event.

Artwork for the design of the BDO logo is obtainable from the BDO Headquarters. The logo is a registered trademark of the British Darts Organisation Limited and shall not be used on marketable goods unless a licence to do so has been granted by the BDO to the manufacturer of the goods.

Unless a darts event is sanctioned in the approved manner laid down above then the BDO Insurance Cover will not be valid in the instance of any claim for Public Liability.
