The IDPA have received
a number of enquiries with reference to the rulings that apply
to a player moving from one County to another and the correct
procedure to be followed by the player concerned for applying
for his/her release from their current County.
Two requests for release have been brought to our notice from
the same County that recently two players requests have been
handled differently, so we take this opportunity to briefly
explain player’s rights in simple language to the set
down procedures currently employed by the BDO.
Players may apply for their release from their current County
by making application in writing to their County Secretary.
Players must take into consideration that they cannot play
for more than one county in any one season and therefore the
best time to seek your release is towards the end of the season.
There is one exception to the “one County rule”-permanent
change of address for employment.
Counties cannot refuse a players application for release unless
the applicant is under Disciplinary action at the time and/or
is also in financial dispute with his/her current County.
