Leisure World, Bridlington:
Friday, Sept 21st to Sunday, Sept 23rd

MARTIN ADAMS and TRINA GULLIVER, the reigning Lakeside World Professional Darts Champions and England captains, are just two of the many world-class darts players who will be competing in the prestigious BDO British Open at Leisure World, Bridlington.

The Men’s and Women’s Pairs will be played on Saturday, September 22nd, followed by the Men’s and Women’s Singles on Sunday, September 23rd.

This will be the 33rd staging of this major BDO ranked darts tournament, which is firmly established as one of the most popular tournaments - for both players and spectators - on the British Darts Organisation calendar.

It also serves as an exciting Bridlington ‘warm-up’ for the players and fans, because the Winmau World Masters will be played in the same venue for the seventh consecutive year and shown live on BBC TV Sport for more than seven hours over the weekend of November 17th and 18th. The World Masters will be the richest ever two day televised tournament in the world, with record-breaking prize money of £60,000!

“We are always delighted to stage our major darts tournaments in Bridlington, and the British Open is one of the biggest and most popular on our busy calendar,” says Olly Croft, Managing Director of BDO Enterprises Ltd.

“Like the World Masters, it attracts players from all over the world – most of whom are now familiar with the resort and appreciate the warm welcome that they always receive from the local people, and the unrivalled hospitality of East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

“It is always a great pleasure for the BDO darts family to return to Bridlington”.

The British Open provides the perfect darts weekend for players and supporters, with a full programme of competitive darts from Friday evening (Sept 21st )  to  Sunday (23rd).

There is a ‘fun’ Men’s and Women’s Blind Draw Pairs on Friday, followed by the main events of the weekend: The Men’s and Women’s Pairs on Saturday and Men’s and Women’s Singles on Sunday.

The defending BDO British Open Men’s and Women’s Singles Champions are England’s MICK REED and the No.1 Dutch women’s player FRANCIS HOENSELAAR.

Defending Men’s and Women’s Pairs Champions are TONY MARTIN (England) and ANDRE BRANTJES (Netherlands), and Russian sensation ANASTASIA DOBROMYSLAVA and KARIN KRAPPEN (Netherlands). Anastasia and Karin have held the title for the last two years.
